Prospectus is delighted to be working with Kinship, the leading kinship care charity in England and Wales, to recruit a Media and Communications Manager who will help to grow brand awareness and increase its impact in securing support and recognition for kinship carers.

Kinship's mission is to provide support to all kinship carers - the grandparents and siblings, the aunts, uncles, and family friends who step up to raise children when their parents can't. Kinship works to inform, support and empower all kinship carers, providing tailored support (both in home and community settings), and connecting carers via their national community and local support groups.

The main responsibilities of the role include managing the Kinship press office, both responding to reactive requests as well as developing and implementing proactive PR strategies. You will draft press releases, pitch stories to journalists and spot opportunities to raise Kinship's profile in response to external developments. You will also help to develop and maintain the organisation's brand identity across all channels, develop and manage the organisations social media strategy and contribute to the development of performance indicator. All of this work will be with the overall mission of shaping and delivering strategies to raise awareness and understanding of kinship care and the urgency of the cause.

To be successful as a Media and Communications Manager, you will have demonstrable experience in developing integrated communications strategies across media, PR and social and leading communications projects, in a similar managerial position or as a senior officer who is now ready for the next challenge. You will have a proven track record in achieving positive coverage in a range of relevant media, developing content and media strategy for a range of different audiences and channels and of building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Overall, you will have exceptional written and spoken skills and a commitment to inspire action and drive change.
