Prospectus is delighted to be working with Kinship, the leading kinship care charity in England and Wales, to recruit a Policy and Public Affairs Manager who will play a pivotal role in enabling Kinship to secure significant changes to policy legislation in line with their mission.
Kinship's mission is to provide support to all kinship carers - the grandparents and siblings, the aunts, uncles, and family friends who step up to raise children when their parents can't. Kinship works to inform, support and empower all kinship carers, providing tailored support (both in home and community settings), and connecting carers via their national community and local support groups.
The main responsibilities of this role include developing policy positions that are rooted in Kinship's insights and evidence to secure tangible and transformative changes to policy and practice. You will produce policy position papers, briefings and reports for key decision makers, government officials and politicians. You will project manage Kinship's two annual surveys, represent the organisation at events, and draft responses to policy consultations. You will also help develop the organisation's influencing and external affairs strategy, monitor parliamentary activity and identify areas for influencing.
To be successful as a Policy and Public Affairs Manager, you will have demonstrable experience of policy development and delivering policy and/or public affairs initiatives. You will have a track record of integrating policy and public affairs work for maximum impact and be an excellent project manager, able to build strong relationships with various people at all levels. Overall, you will have great understanding of UK political systems, an ability to create focussed and ambitious influencing strategies.
